Luncheon held to support women and minority owned businesses

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Awards were given out today for those supporting Kansas minority and women-owned businesses.

The awards were given out to 16 businesses and four individuals at the 32nd annual Minority and Women Business Awards luncheon.The event is hosted by the Kansas Department of Commerce's Office of Minority and Women Business Development.

The Office of Minority and Business Development provides assistance in business development, financial resources and networking for women and minority-owned businesses.

Business winners include Hastco, Inc. and Shenomenon Corp. out of Topeka.

Corporation of the Year went to Black and Veatch out of Overland Park.

The Minority Business Advocate award went to Chritsal Watson from Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce in Kansas City. Jayne Siemens from Venice Communications, Inc. in Shawnee took home the Women Business Advocate Award. Young Entrepreneur went to Lindsay Beyer from Burlington at Bella Rose Boutique and Tanning Salon.
