A local organization is assuring pets and their owners stay together

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Dinner at a local restaurant Thursday night helped a group helping pets and owners stay together.

The Pet Assistance Network of Topeka or PANT, held a fundraiser at Coyote Canyon.

PANT pays licensed veterinary facilities to board pets who are temporarily homeless when their owners need to stay at an emergency shelter.

They can then be reunited when the family is back on its feet, rather than having to give up the pet permanently.

PANT, also ensures those pets have vaccinations, and are neutered or spayed.
