TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) The Topeka Police Department says one man is behind bars in connection with a shooting that sent two people to the hospital early this week.

Capt. Bryan Wheeles says Donald Cornelius Dugan, 43, of Topeka was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Dugan was located at a home in the 700 block of SW Buchanan following a tip from a citizen.

Dugan was taken into custody without incident and later booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections, charged with aggravated battery.

On Sunday, officials say two men arrived at an area hospital after a shooting in the 1800 block of SE 10th Street around 4:30 p.m. At the time, TPD says one had a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Wheeles says Dugan has an extensive criminal history with multiple previous felony convictions.
