RUSSELL, Kan. (KWCH) -- A Russell toddler who authorities suspected may have been abused has died from his injuries, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation says.
An autopsy is being performed on Thursday. No further details about the investigation have been released.
According to the Russell Police Dept., they received a call Sunday about a 14-month-old boy being treated at a Wichita hospital.
"As a result, an active investigation is being conducted by the Russell Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation," Russell police say.
A spokesperson for the KBI said the agency was asked to assist in the investigation of suspected child abuse involving the child. Neither Russell police nor the KBI are releasing further information about the investigation.
