I have lived in Kansas City for most of my life and I am excited to be able to work at a home-based news station.
As a little girl I have always been intrigued by the world of journalism.
While most kids would wake up and watch morning cartoons, I would have the television turned on to local newscasts. This would annoy my two younger brothers Blake and Blaine.
I even went as far as starting a newspaper in my fifth grade class titled Phipps Flash.
My love for journalism led me to attend Kansas State University to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications.
While at K-State, I was awarded the COHO Digital Media Full Ride Scholarship along with a National Association of Hispanic Journalists and Kansas Association of Broadcasters scholarship.
I am proud to say that last year I placed 1st in the Hard News category at the 2014 Kansas Association of Broadcasters Awards, and also placed 2nd in the Enterprise News category. This is only the beginning and I am excited to see what the future holds.
I am a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and when I am not reporting you can find me studying as I try to wrap up my senior year of my undergraduate degree.
I come from a very close-knit Mexican-American family and so spending time with my family here in Kansas, California, and Mexico is extremely important to me. They are by far the biggest blessing in my life.
I am also a huge sports fan (Go Cats, Go SKC, Go ManU, Go Angels), movie buff, exercise fanatic, and food enthusiast.
