I was born and raised in Kansas - the Kansas City suburbs to be more exact - and I wouldn't have it any other way!
I spent my freshmen year of college at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri - where I played NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball. Playing college ball kept my love for sports alive and was perfect for my competitive nature, but my passion for journalism outweighed the game.
Rockhurst did not have a Broadcast Journalism major. So, I transferred to Kansas State University, home of the Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
During my Senior year at K-State I was a part of the KKSU-LP-TV, Channel 8 News Team. I produced, anchored, photographed, and reported news and sports.
In 2015, I graduated from Kansas State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications with concentrations in Digital Media and Spanish.
Each time I made my way to Manhattan, Kan. in college I would drive through Topeka. After graduation I decided to stop and stay awhile.
One year after being a part of the wonderful Topeka community - telling your stories and joining you at community gatherings - I was promoted to morning anchor. I am now a morning person and I couldn't be more excited to embark on this journey as an anchor with an incredible news team and a supportive community.
I am grateful for the opportunity to report the news. I am also proud to say I'm endorsed in Broadcast Journalism and I will continue to seek truth and report it. Having been a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, I know it is a journalist's duty to be honest, fair and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information - I will do my best to uphold that Code of Ethics.
When I'm not working I love to workout, play sports, hang out with friends and family and just enjoy the world around me.
I decided to make 2017 the year I explore all the wonderful places Topeka is home to. Any ideas?
