It’s Bizarre Bazaar time again!

Over 100 area artists present the annual Bizarre Bazaar.

Friday, November 24th from 5pm to 9pm & Saturday, November 25th from 9am to 5pm at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire Street.

This popular grassroots Lawrence tradition features original and unusual hand-crafted specialty items for all occasions. Some of these unique gift items include: Ceramics, Glass, Fiber Art, Jewelry, Candles, Soap, Paper mache, Mixed media, Paintings, Photography, UpCycled Art, and much, much more!
Food and live entertainment! This is a family event for all to enjoy. Come support local artists and experience the original works of a show unlike any other! Free Admission.

Downtown Lawrence Holiday Lighting & Santa Rescue

Join us in Downtown Lawrence where the holiday comes alive with the Santa Rescue and Holiday Lighting Ceremony! What other city combines fire trucks, twinkling lights, Christmas carols and Santa on the rooftop? The evening begins at 5:30pm with live musical entertainment for the whole family on the US Bank Plaza at 9th & Mass. Join us along with event MC Hank Booth for live musical performances by the Lawrence High School (Kansas) Chorale, the Cast of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" from the Lawrence Arts Center, Liberty Memorial Central Middle School Choir,and a special appearance by Theatre Lawrence's Beauty & the Beast! Kids' crafts provided by First Christian Church.

Mayor Soden will kick off the holiday season by turning on our world class holiday lights and then it's time for a visit from the big man himself. At 6:15pm Santa will appear on the rooftop of Weaver’s Department Store, only to be rescued by a ladder truck, operated by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical. Once Santa is safely on the ground, he’ll be available to take gift requests from the kids.

The Chocolate Nutcracker tells the story of a little girl named Claire and her Chocolate Nutcracker who travel the world in a dream lead by the Dream Princess.
The Chocolate Nutcracker is a production filled with the pageantry of dazzling costumes and uses a variety of exciting dance styles that include: Hip-hop, Jazz, African, Praise, Contemporary, Stepping and Ballet.

Persons who have lost a loved one may be struggling and have questions on how to go forward. GriefShare is a Christ-centered program that can help. The class includes a video, sharing of stories, and a workbook (free). Meet with people who understand what you are going through. Classes are free-standing and drop-ins are welcome. The class begins August 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, 7433 SW 29th St, Topeka KS.
