GEARY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- An Olathe woman and her husband are making headlines across the state for their individual fishing records. One of those records was set this weekend during a tournament at Milford Lake.
Stephanie Stanley reeled in a 82 pound blue catfish at Milford Reservoir on Saturday during the Catfish Chasers tournament.
Rich Witt, co-owner of the Catfish Chasers tournament, said it’s the largest blue catfish ever caught at Milford Lake, located near Junction City, and the largest from any lake in Kansas.
Stephanie's husband Robert holds the current state record for blue catfish at 102 pounds, caught from the Missouri River last year.
“She has the biggest ever from a lake and he has the biggest from a Kansas river, Witt said.
Last summer the couple's daughter caught a 70 pound catfish out of the Kaw River.
Stephanie Stanley's massive fish was released unharmed.
