(January 18, 2012) TOPEKA, Kan.—The Kansas Bar Foundation (KBF) recently presented Washburn Law student Whitney Casement, Topeka, with its inaugural Maxine S. Thompson Memorial scholarship award of $1,000.

“Whitney is a most worthy candidate to receive this award due to her outstanding scholarship and service to the community,” said Kathy Kirk, Scholarship Committee chair. “We are honored to award her this scholarship.”

The new scholarship will be awarded each year to a law student attending the University of Kansas School of Law or Washburn University School of Law. The criteria of the award include academic achievement and participation in community activities, as well as a bona fide intention to practice law in Kansas.
