TOPEKA, Kan. -- United Way Campaign Ambassadors will be in costume, serving drinks and visiting with guests at the Lazy Toad, 5331 SW 22nd Place, Topeka, Thursday (10/25) from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.

They are vying for the largest collection of tips and the best costume in order to raise money for the United Way of Greater Topeka.

The Campaign Ambassadors' annual "celebrity serve" for United Way raises money for the organization in a fun manner. Ambassadors were invited to dress in costume and serve family members, friends, coworkers and other guests. The tips they earn go to the United Way for disbursement to those in need in the community.

This is the first year the celebrity serve will take place at the Lazy Toad, which is located in the west end of Fairlawn Plaza.

Campaign Ambassadors are volunteers responsible for overseeing the networking between United Way and its supporters during the campaign season.

There are 14 company-sponsored full- and part-time volunteers this year. The ambassadors spend two weeks training in August and then work September, October and part of November during the campaign.

Chris Fisher and Jeremy Goodwin are this year's ambassadors from WIBW-TV. There are also ambassadors from the State of Kansas, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, Capitol Federal Savings, CoreFirst Bank & Trust, Frito Lay, Hallmark Cards, INTRUST Bank, Kansas Gas Service, Stormont-Vail HealthCare, and Security Benefit.
