TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Topeka City Council has selected three finalists for its open City Manager position.
In a news release Tuesday, the city said it would not identify the trio until sometime Thursday at the request of one of the candidates.
The public can meet the finalists from 6 to 7 pm Friday at the city's Holliday Building, 620 SE Madison, in the first floor conference room. People will be able to visit informally with the candidates.
The Topeka City Council will interview the finalists beginning at noon Saturday at the Law Enforcement Center.
The City Council is being assisted in the search by Bob Murray & Associates of Tallahassee, Fla. The finalists were chosen from 49 applicants for the position.
The city is searching for a permanent replacement for Norton Bonaparte, who left the post last summer after reaching a separation agreement. Former Kansas Secretary of Administration and Assistant U.S. Defense Secretary, as well as former councilman, Dan Stanley filled the role on an interim basis until June 1, when he departed for family reasons.
The city's interim finance director, Pam Simecka, is now filling the interim city manager position.
