BIRMINGHAM, AL-- Bill Buscher, a resident of Topeka, Kansas, has been installed as the 90th President of Civitan International. Civitan is a nonprofit community service organization with approximately 40,000 members across 34 countries. Buscher begins his term as International President on October 1, 2011, and will serve on the Civitan International Board of Directors.
Buscher has held several leadership positions with Civitan, including president of the Topeka Civitan Club; governor of the Oklahoma-Kansas District; and Region 8 International Director. Buscher is Vice President of Capitol Federal Savings Bank in Topeka, and a member of Christ the King Church. He also volunteers with several other community organizations, including Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, the United Way, and Crime Stoppers of Topeka.
Civitan International is an organization of clubs dedicated to helping people in their communities, with a special emphasis on helping those with developmental disabilities. Civitans also advance this mission through fundraising for the UAB Civitan International Research Center, a facility dedicated to researching developmental disabilities and other cognitive disorders.
