Top Kansas Regional Educators Honored With Banquet

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-Some of the states top educators were honored amongst peers in the annual Kansas Region 2 Teacher of the Year Awards Banquet this afternoon.

Thirty-one outstanding teachers from elementary and secondary education levels were nominated and two will be chosen as state finalists for the 2012 Kansas Teacher of the Year.

Many in attendance took advantage of having such great educators to interact with.

Nominee John Ritchie who teaches language arts at Washburn Rural High School said, "It is amazing to have so many award winning teachers all here at the same time. It's not just about honoring one person, it is about honoring everything we do together to make our schools great."

The event brought out nearly 400 educators, administrators, superintendents and local dignitaries.
