TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-The Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce held its 32nd Annual Small Business Awards Wednesday afternoon.

Dozens of small business owners gathered at the Washburn University Memorial Union to recognize eachother's work here in town.

The finalists were selected for leaving their mark here in town as well as giving back to the community.

Although each of the four categories had just one winner, all of the small businesses were excited to be recognized and very proud to call Topeka home.

"It's a huge honor and reflects recognition of the entire team and what we do in the community and what we do for our member owners," said Greg Winkler, winner of the Capital City Business of Distinction Award.

Eileen Doran, winner of the Non-Profit Award, was also enthusiastic about her nomination and said, "It is quite an honor that people think what we do is important, so we are very very grateful.

"Locally owned businesses are really the heart and soul of the community and we all are in this together (and) maintain the integrity of the Topeka community," said Minority & Women Business of Distinction winner Diana Swafford.
