TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Beginning Tuesday March 15, 2011, the phone system at the Shawnee County Courthouse will be completely automated.
Callers to 785.233.8200 will be informed that menu changes have taken place, and will have the option of entering their party’s direct extension. After which they will have the option of choosing a menu for Court or County offices. Callers will no longer have the option of pressing zero, “0” to reach an operator.
Eric Theel, Information Technology Director for the county says the decision to make the transition from an operator to an automated system was not an easy one to reach. However, with the County’s current budgetary concerns, it was determined that the automation of the County’s phone system was necessary.
The county says the public’s patience and understanding is greatly appreciated during this process.
