KANSAS EXPOCENTRE -- Shawnee County's Fair, with the theme of a "5-Star Party on the Prairie" kicked off Thursday night with the crowning of outstanding 4H members as King and Queen.

People in the early crowd could buy in the bake sale and baked goods auction, or view all kinds of animals in exhibits like the Sheep Show.

This year 4H King and Queen were announced after they were interviewed by 13's Melissa Brunner. We join in congratulating Abby Miller and Tony Pruitt for being chosen.

Friday morning's events include the Poultry, Dog and Swine Show beginning at 9:00am. The Fair's Petting Zoo also opens at 9am, and is open right through till 7:00pm. Antique tractors and farm equipment are on display through the fair run.

The hit of the night is the "Duke Mason Band" concert inside Landon Arena, Friday evening at 7:30. Tickets are still available at Dillons, HyVee, KanEquip of Topeka, Briggs, Heritage Tractor, and even WIBW-TV.

Shawnee County's Fair at the Expocentre is in full gear right through till 3:30 Sunday afternoon.
