RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County law enforcement officials took time Monday to recognize several employees for their accomplishments and quick thinking in the line of duty.
Lieutenant Josh Kyle received a meritorious service award at the Riley County Law Board meeting at City Hall in Manhattan for his dedication to problem-based learning, a program that teaches training officers how to prepare recruits for the different problems they’ll face in police work.
Officer Mark Cusimano and Dawn Wickizer, dispatch supervisor, both received life saving awards for their actions in June when they dealt with a call of a baby who was not breathing.
They both provided support and aid to help revive the infant. Wickizer instructed the baby’s mother how to perform CPR until Cusimano arrived and took over resuscitations.
"We are eternally grateful to them. They were wonderful," the child's mother told law board members,.
