Pass It On Hunt Teaches Kids Outdoor Skills

TOPEKA, Kan, (WIBW) -With opening day of dove season upon us it was the perfect time for kids from Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Boys and Girls Club and Lions Club to learn the tricks of the hunting trade from mentors of Pass It On.

All kids became certified and tested out their aim this morning on Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism Property.

13's own Drew Switzer served as a Pass It On Mentor for the children who were excited to take part in their first hunt.

First time hunter Malachi Hinnant learned quickly and shot four doves and learned valuable lessons on how to hold a gun and there's safety tips.

Nathan Triggs had plenty of early success during the hunt and said, "It's been pretty fun I have three doves so far and we are still gonna hunt some more and I've been having alot of fun."

Pass It On is an organization that works closely with mentoring agencies to support kids who have an interest in the great outdoors.
