TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The snow we've seen kept most people from donating blood .
The community blood center set up shop at the West Ridge mall Tuesday, to help make up for it.
The first major snow storm of the season caused nearly 75% of the mobile drives to be cancelled, resulting in dangerously low levels of blood collection.
But....the blood donating faithful poured in Tuesday to donate a pint in order to save a life.
Its all part of the annual media blood drive challenge near J.C. Penney at West Ridge mall.
Topeka's community blood center has less than a day supply of O positive, O negative, B positive and B negative.
It's especially important for Kansans with those blood types to make a donation.
It's also a blood drive with a twist. Donate a pint, save a life and give 13 news bragging rights.
Community blood center will tally up the votes from Tuesday, host another blood drive in May and then announce the tv or radio station with the most votes.
If you'd like to roll up your sleeves contact Community Blood Center at 785- 233- 0195.
