TOPEKA – The Kansas Lottery has partnered with the Kansas Recreation and Park Association (KRPA) to promote the benefits of local and state parks in Kansas. “Art in the Park” lottery tickets will feature colorful park scenes painted by renowned landscape artist Louis Copt.

Each $2 ticket depicts a landscape from one of four parks in Kansas: Lake Shawnee in Topeka, Tuttle Creek State Park in Manhattan, Finnup Park in Garden City, and Eisenhower Park in Abilene.

“We view this partnership with the Kansas Lottery and Louis Copt as a terrific opportunity to promote the many recreational opportunities for individuals and families in Kansas parks and to remind everyone of the beauty and value they provide in local communities,” said KRPA Executive Director Doug Vance. “Louis Copt did a remarkable job in capturing a variety of park landscape scenes that accurately depict the many benefits available from a visit to a local or state park.”

Lottery Executive Director Dennis Wilson agrees with Vance and believes the launch of this game will “enhance tourism in Kansas by highlighting what Kansas parks are known for — variety and the unique amenities each one offers.”

Copt, who recently was honored as Kansas artist of the year, said “I was excited to be a part of this project. As a native Kansan, an artist and photographer, I’ve traveled the state and have an understanding of the importance of parks and opportunities they offer for everyone.” He added, “I wanted to make sure our paintings reflected people using them and enjoying what they offer.”

“Art in the Park” tickets are being sent to approximately 1,800 Kansas Lottery retailers across the state this week. The second-chance drawing is schedule for October 26, 2012.

In the drawing, four lucky players will each win a grand prize of one original Copt painting of a Kansas park featured on the tickets, including mandatory state and federal income withholding taxes, bringing the total value of each painting prize package to approximately $11,600.

To become eligible for the second-chance drawing, players may deposit non-winning $2 Art in the Park tickets into any receptacle designated by the Lottery or mail non-winning tickets to:
