MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Manhattan driver licensing office reopened Nov. 20 in its new, larger space at 8200 South Port Drive, Suite 105 off of Highway 24.
Along with more room, the new office has improved technology capabilities allowing the Kansas Department of Revenue to offer more efficient service to customers.
The new office replaces the old space at 3003 Anderson Ave., Suite 1001AB, which will no longer offer driver licensing services after the close of business Friday, Nov. 16.
“We are constantly looking for more ways to make our services more efficient and easier for Kansans to access,” said Director of Vehicles Donna Shelite. “With the larger space, enhanced technology and new line management service, this office will be better able to serve the growing Manhattan community.”
With the new office, the department will also offer a new line management system called QLess which allows customers to reserve a spot in line from their cell phone or home computer.
To join the line people can use their cell phone to text 714-333-1234 with Manhattan DL. They can also sign in online from a web browser from http://ksrevenue.org/qless.html.
Manhattan is the fifth state office where QLess has been installed.
Once they have a place in line, people can roam freely while they wait, allowing them to stay at work or run errands instead of having to sit and wait in the office. The system will send them updates via text alerting them as their number progresses to the front of the line.
The state-run Manhattan driver licensing office is a full-service facility offering drive tests, renewals and new licenses. It is open Tuesday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
The county office operated by Riley County Treasurer Eileen King, which offers driver’s license renewals and new or renewed identification cards, is not moving and its hours remain the same at the courthouse.
Customers can also visit the state’s full-service office in the Geary County Annex at 8th and Franklin in Junction City. The office is open from 7 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
