TOPEKA, Kan. - Thrivent Financial for Lutherans announced that its Double Direction Church Campaign generated $15 million for thousands of congregations nationwide.
The campaign, which was slated to run from October 1 through November 30 or until the $15 million goal was reached; the goal was quickly met on October 31. The campaign was designed to let members celebrate their congregations by doubling all Thrivent Choice Dollars® directions made to enrolled congregations.
A total of 13,950 churches received money through the Thrivent Choice campaign. Each church will receive a minimum of $25, with $1,100 being the average amount that each church will receive. 77,122 Thrivent members participated by directing Choice Dollars to congregations.
Locally in Northeast Kansas, 73 congregations received funds from the campaign. A total of $92,320 will be received by churches in Northeast Kansas.
“It’s always exciting to see Thrivent members recommend where Thrivent should distribute some of its charitable grant money,” said Tanner Knowland, a Financial Associate with Thrivent Financial in Topeka. “It is no surprise that they took quick action when it came to providing funds for their places of worship. I look forward to seeing the impact of this campaign in the months and years to come.”
