MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Manhattan's oldest restaurant is getting a new venue.
Hibachi Hut, a staple in the Aggieville District for more than 50 years, closed its doors Sunday night.
Kale Becker, co-owner of the restaurant told WIBW: "It was a business decision that needed to be made on certain levels."
Fuzzy's Taco Shop, a franchise business, will move into Hibachi Hut's location on North 12th Street.
But fans of the longtime Creole and Cajun restaurant fear not- a local businessman has purchased the Hibachi Hut name and recipes and plans to set up shop in downtown Manhattan in the next several months.
Becker declined to elaborate further on the deal but was happy to see that the restaurant will continue to operate in the Little Apple. He said Fuzzy's Taco Shop and the new Hibachi Hut owner will be interviewing staff members to help employees keep their jobs.
Hibachi Hut was donating its current stock of food to the Flint Hills Breadbasket, a local charity.
