MANHATTAN, Kan. (April. 17, 2012) – Manhattan Catholic Schools accepted $15,000 from Cartridge World as a winner of a recent contest to provide technology funding for local schools. Sara Meyer, owner of Cartridge World in Manhattan, presented the school with a check on April 19 at an assembly celebration at the school.

More than 1,000 schools in the U.S. and Canada participated in a contest hosted by Cartridge World to win a cash prize of $15,000 toward the use of technology or other school equipment. Manhattan Catholic Schools is one of three winners.

“Every business owner and area resident is affected by the success of our schools,” Meyer said. “The Cartridge World team is happy to support local education and provide additional technology resources – and we’re so glad our school has won!”

Manhattan Catholic Schools intends to use the funds for buying state-of-the-art “Smart Boards” for classrooms. The interactive boards, which use a projector to display a computer’s video output, increase engagement in the classroom as well as support visual learners.

With 600 stores across the U.S. and Canada, Cartridge World is the world’s largest specialty retailer of ink and toner printer cartridges. In addition, Cartridge World supports various cartridge recycling programs. This includes programs that allow schools and local community organizations to raise funds by collecting empty printer cartridges and returning them to the store.
