MANHATTAN, Kan. -- The Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce will host a non-partisan Candidate Forum on Monday, October 8th from 5:00 – 9:00pm at the Manhattan Arts Center. The forum is free to attend and open to the public. All candidates running for Riley County Commission and area State races have been invited to attend and will all have the opportunity to answer questions from the moderator and public. Participants will include candidates running for the following races: Riley County Commission Districts 2 & 3; Kansas House of Representatives Districts 51, 64, 66 & 67 and Kansas Senate District 22. Additional elected Riley County officials not involved in a campaign will also be in attendance.
“Candidate forums are an excellent opportunity to become more familiar with the people who are running for area offices”, said Lyle Butler, President/CEO of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. “I encourage everyone to attend and become better informed about the candidates and their views on issues affecting the Manhattan and Riley County communities.”
The forum will be broken into three sections, with the County, House and Senate races each having a specific time frame. People interested in attending may stay for the entire event, or chose to come only for the race(s) they are interested in learning more about. The event will begin at 5:00 with a meet and greet session including all candidates running in the above mentioned races.
