MLK Jr. Luncheon Recognizes Community Leadership

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Celebrations of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. continued Friday in the capital city.

Living the Dream's week of events honoring the civil rights leader continued Friday with Stop the Violence Day.

An invitation only community leadership and recognition luncheon was held at the Ramada Inn in downtown Topeka. Several corporate leaders were to be recognized for their sponsorships.

WIBW-TV General Manager Jim Ogle was the keynote speaker.

Stop the Violence Day activities Friday include a Living the Dream Imc. visit to the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex for an address. Topeka Firefighters and Police Officers were also visiting area elementary schools to talk about non-violence, anti-bullying and mutual respect.
