TOPEKA, KS (WIBW) - People wanting to renew their vehicle tags at the Shawnee County treasurer's office are waiting longer than usual.
The courthouse location is now your only option.
The treasurer's White Lakes Annex closed temporarily, then for good, because of a malfunctioning sprinkler system.
That's causing headaches for people trying to pay their taxes.
When the White Lakes Annex closed....the wait to pay real estate taxes or to do vehicle transactions got a little longer at the treasurer's courthouse location.
Shawnee county treasurer Larry Wilson rescinded the White Lakes Annex lease a couple of weeks ago because the real estate company didn't comply with the requirements of the contract.
A decision many are not happy with.
As for whether the county is looking at opening a new annex location elsewhere... Commissioners referred us to Wilson but he wasn't available for comment Monday.
