TOPEKA, Kan. (From TPD Release) -- The Topeka Police Department will accept applications for its 28th Citizens’ Police Academy through February 1st, 2011.
Citizens attending will be exposed to the problems and challenges faced by law enforcement and learn how their police department meets those challenges. Participants will learn about various aspects of the Police Department including field operations, investigative divisions, hostage negotiations, bomb disposal, crime scene investigation, school programs and much more!
The three-hour classes are held one Thursday evening each week from February 10th – April 28th, 2011. There is also an optional eight-hour Saturday session covering emergency driving, use of force (shoot/don't shoot), and K-9 demonstrations which will give the participants a "hands-on" experience in these areas.
