Manhattan, Kan. – Sunset Zoo will host its annual Community Appreciation Day this Saturday, March 24. Guests of any age will receive free admission to the park from Noon to 5:00pm. The Zoo’s concession stand, operated by Vista Drive In, is open throughout this week and weekend and will be opened weekends-only until it transitions to daily operations in June. The Safari Output Gift Shop will remain closed until it reopens early this summer in a new year-round retail space as part of the Zoo’s new entryway facility, the Nature Exploration Center.

“We are so very lucky for the wonderful support we receive from the community both locally and within the Flint Hills region,” said Ella Casey, Marketing/Development Officer. “Saturday’s promotion is just a small way for us to say ‘thank you’ and a great way to take advantage of our gorgeous spring weather!”

With Saturday’s kick-off to another special event season, Sunset Zoo announces the dates of several other perennial favorites:

· Earth Day on Sunday, April 22 from Noon – 4:30PM

· Friends of Sunset Zoo’s Wine in the Wild on Saturday, June 2

· Water Safari & Baskin Robbins Kids’ Free Day on Saturday, August 4 from Noon – 4:30PM

· SPOOKtacular on Saturday, October 20 & Sunday, October 21 from Noon-4:30PM
