Contest Winners Catch Fire Truck Ride To School

A select group of students in USD 450 will be riding to school in something red instead of orange the week of October 10th.

Four third graders in the Shawnee Heights School District will be riding to their schools in a Shawnee Heights Fire District fire engine as a reward for designing the best poster promoting fire prevention in the home. Students in Tecumseh North, Tecumseh South,

Berryton Elementary and Shawnee Heights Elementary School each were given a project to design a poster for National Fire Prevention Week the week of October 9th through the 15th.

Prize-winning posters were judged by elementary school staff at each
school. Winners will be picked up at their homes and driven to school by a Shawnee Heights Firefighter in a big red fire truck.

Posters utilized the 2011 National Fire Prevention Week theme “Protect Your Family from Fire”.
