MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Manhattan officials say a local company is changing the skyline of the Little Apple as it continues to grow.
CivicPlus broke ground Wednesday on a new five-story, $9 million building at the southwest corner of Fourth and Pierre Streets in downtown Manhattan. The first floor will be used for a restaurant and retail space while the company will occupy the remaining four floors.
The company develops government websites in the U.S., Canada and Australia.
City leaders say CivicPlus is helping boost the local economy, create jobs and attract other businesses to the downtown area.
The company employs 128 people out of its Manhattan headquarters, with goals of increasing that to more than 250 within 10 years.
Ward Morgan, CivicPlus CEO, said: "It’s probably a testament to the staff more than anything that have made CivicPlus a reality. Our customers- we have over 1300 cities and counties across US that are using CivicPlus websites and that continues to grow. We had add a new client about every other day at this point."
The new building will be constructed on the plot where Manhattan Appliance and Sleep Source was located. Manhattan Appliance and Sleep Source relocated to the Westloop Shopping Center.
Founded in 2001, CivicPlus was selected by Inc. Magazine as “One of the Fastest-Growing Privately Held Companies in the U.S.” in 2011 and 2012.
