MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Kansas State University head football coach Bill Snyder shared some of his secrets to success both on and off the field with a crowd in Manhattan Tuesday.
Coach Snyder was the keynote speaker at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Bureau of Waste Management’s annual recycling and composting conference at the Hilton Garden Inn. Snyder’s motivational speech helped kick off the two day event, aimed at reducing waste.
He shared some of the same advice he gives to his players, encouraging attendees to set goals for the things they want to achieve in their personal and professional lives.
“I think that’s important regardless of what your role is, to ask: What are my priorities in life and in my career? Once that’s defined, then your goals are in place because those are things that you want to succeed at. And the second step which gets overlooked a great deal is really having a well thought out plan about how you can accomplish those goals,” he told guests from across the state.
Snyder said besides having perseverance, it’s also important for you to surround yourself with people who support you and want to see you succeed.
“I’ve always tried to allow our young people to understand that perhaps the most significant thing that they can do- certainly, it’s proven true for me- and that is to bring people into our lives that genuinely truly care, people who want to, can and will make our lives better, make our professions better, make our careers better,” he said.
