As summer gets closer ..kids gear up for some fun in the sun.
Bags were packed....buses loaded and kids were ready to enjoy a week in the woods at Camp Hope.
All the fun things kids do at summer camp year after year but for these kids there's one thing they all have in common. They've all either had cancer in the past or currently have it.
For 17 year old Jamison Carmichael who was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma 5 years ago... Camp Hope is a place he's looked foward to every summer for the past 4 years.
Jamison says he wouldn't want to go through his illness again but he thinks he's a better person now because of it.
As he hugs his family goodbye he says hello to kids he will mentor and share with them the message of hope.
Camp Hope has been going strong for 28 years....if you're interested in participating with the camp call the american cancer society at 785-438- 5604
