TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) - A group from the Leadership Greater Topeka class of 2010 is helping start a community garden at Velma K Paris Community Center, 6715 SW Westview Road.
Because the garden is for the community, they're also looking to the community for volunteers to help get it started! The leadership team will meet at the community center at 8:00 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010, to build the garden.
Youth who spend days at the community center over the summer will be able to learn from the garden. They'll learn about produce as well as have the opportunity to tend to the garden.
The group is looking for volunteers to help with supplies, funding and man power. If you'd like to volunteer and can bring drills, hammers, spades/shovels to help build the garden, meet anytime after 8:00 a.m. Monday. Coffee and bagels will be waiting, while they last.
