Coming home was just as tedious and long as getting to Iraq...but it was a lot more fun!
In this special I share my experiences in the middle east. From volunteering with the Iraqi children to the process to get to Iraq and the special guests who paid a visit.
I'm one of the more fortunate ones... I was able to come back to a great job here at WIBW TV, my fiance and my family.
But a lot of Soldiers aren't as lucky.. especially reservists. When you're plucked away from your life and thrown into a foreign land..when you come home reintegration can be hard. Jobs are scarce.... even though we don't hear too much about the Iraq war these days... our troops still need genuine support when they come home.
125,000 guard and reserves soldiers are deployed now....10,000 soldiers come home each month..alcoholism...divorces and suicides have increased drastically since 2003.
So the next opportunity you have.. make sure you remember these individuals and support the troops.. your troop. Any way you can.
The entire special will be posted on this webpage Thursday, January 28th.
