Across the nation millions of dollars have been raised....a big response from the american public and over $21,000 from the Dillons partnership alone.
Dana Wethington, CEO with the Red Cross says, " Dillons customers have been invited to the stores to give a contribution to Haiti and they can do that by rounding up their level of payment at the cash register or they can do a direct donation to Haiti so that will go to Dillons corporation headquarters and then the donations will go to the Red Cross. Runs till January 30th 2010. The Red Cross runs into action by telling people what's happening. Then we provide that financial support, the best way to help is by financial support, no cost to send money like there is if we were shipping goods."
"We want to be involved in the community as much as we can...this is our small way," says Dillons assistant manager, Mikel Smith.
Dillons isn't the only local business encouraging relief efforts ...Qdoba is also giving back in their own way...show the text confirmation you receive from contributing $10.00 to the Red Cross' disaster relief fund and they'll show you free chips and salsa.
If you would like to contribute... all Dillons stores will be taking donations until January 30th and Qdoba has not set an end date.
