Charity Event For At-Risk Manhattan Youth

MANHATTAN, Kansas - K.O. Boxing will be holding their 2nd annual "Fight for Charity" children's benefit event on Saturday, August 29th at the National Guard Armory.

This is only the 2nd time in history Manhattan has hosted a USA Sanctioned Amateur Boxing Event, with last year’s event being the first. There will be approximately 15 amateur bouts with boys & girls ages 8-30. There will also be three exciting celebrity bouts.

The celebrity bouts will feature:
B104.7's Lindsey "In The Morning" vs. KROCK 101.5 Morning DJ Shawn Rock.
The Riley County Police Department’s "Officer Justintime" vs. The Manhattan Fire Department’s "Franky the Fireman" and
Professional Fighter David “Strictly Business” Medina vs. KROCK 101.5 DJ “Cadillac Corey Dean.

Ticket proceeds will go to the national children’s charity Hopeful Tomorrow. The funds will be used to provide scholarships for local children to participate in physical arts programs that their families would normally be unable to afford.

Hopeful Tomorrow is dedicated to providing disadvantaged and at-risk children the opportunity to pursue their passion and dreams in physical, cultural and fine arts programs such as dance, gymnastics, martial arts, boxing and music. A positive mentor and a creative or physical outlet can make a huge difference in the life of an at-risk child.

Free Family Fun Day of activities will begin at 11:00am. This will include: a Bungee Tug of War, a blow up T-ball game, “Dunk a Cop” dunk tank, a National Guard Rock Climbing Wall, a Motorcycle Show with Bikers Against Child Abuse, D.A.R.E, Manhattan Fire Truck, Taxidermy show, Quilt show, Latin Lunch, an autograph session with the celebrity boxers, and much, much more. The Family Fun Day is Free to all. Boxing Bell Time 4:00pm. Tickets for the Boxing event are $10 for adults, $5 for 12-5 year old children, and admission is free to kids under age 5. Concessions & Souvenirs will be sold separately.
