GEARY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Around 400 parcels of land are up for grabs in the Junction City area.
The Geary County Sheriff’s Department is auctioning off hundreds of lots that were seized due to delinquent taxes.
The properties were partially developed during a real estate boom in the area but they were never fully finished by developers so the Sheriff’s Department says the auction will help with the taxation problem.
“There are roads, there are streets, there’s curbs, there’s gutters, there’s all of the amenities that one would need to build a structure out here, build a home, everything from sewer, to water, to electricity, everything’s here. So when the individuals buy these lots, all of that infrastructure is already going to be here and it’s ready to build on,” said Geary County Sheriff Tony Wolf.
The tax sale will take place at Brown Auction Service, located at 2323 North Jackson, Junction City, KS. 66441. The start time for the sale is 9:00am.
