TOPEKA -- The Topeka Credit Union Foundation (TCUF) is holding the third annual Highway to Help Ride on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Participants may register early at www.tcufks.org or the day of the event for $35 per driver/$20 per rider.* Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. at Topeka Harley-Davidson. The ride will launch at 10:00 a.m. and take participants through five Pit Stops including Dover, Alma, Wamego, St. Marys, and Rossville. The event ends with a prize ceremony at the American Legion Post 400 at 3:00 p.m.
TCUF’s "Highway to Help Ride" is the organization’s largest fundraiser. In 2011, Highway to Help brought in 150 bikers and riders from around northeast Kansas. That same year, the organization raised nearly $20,000 for the foundation fund.
The Topeka Credit Union Foundation was formed in 2004 by a group of local credit unions working together to raise funds for community organizations. Since then, TCUF has contributed over $100,000 to local non-profits. Through the contributions of the individual credit unions, the annual Highway to Help Ride, and the generosity and fund-raising efforts of the credit union employees and members, that fund continues to increase each year.
This past October, TCUF awarded $13,000 to the following grant recipients:
· Boys & Girls Club of Topeka - $1,500
· Community Advocates for Social Enrichment (C.A.S.E) - $2,500
· Marian Clinic - $5,000
· Midland Care - $2,000
· TARC, Inc. - $2,000
Other organizations that have received TCUF grants over the last seven years include:
· Alzheimer’s Association – Heart of America Chapter
· Breakthrough House, Inc.
· Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc.
· Let’s Help
· Meals on Wheels
· Ronald McDonald House
· American Red Cross
· The Capper Foundation Easter Seals
· Foster Grandparents Program
· Salvation Army
· Topeka Rescue Mission
· Sheltered Living
Thank you, and hope to see you May 12th!
