WAMEGO, Kan. (WIBW) -- The city of Wamego is gearing up for its annual Tulip Festival, an event that draws thousands of people to the area each year. The festival will be held on April 14th & 15th at the Wamego City Park.
WIBW is proud to be the official TV sponsor of the popular festival which is in its 25th year.
Each year, 20,000 people from across Kansas and neighboring states flock to Wamego for the two day event..
"We have over 150 craft vendors that bring hand-crafted items. They come from all over the United States. That is probably the focus of our festival. In addition, the children’s inflatables area, free children’s train and there’s a beautiful playground in the park that offers lots of opportunities for children. You can get great festival food with funnel cakes and turkey legs and all of those fun things. We also have free entertainment both days in our bandstand. All kinds of varieties of music so there’ll be something for everybody," said Mary Lyn Barnett, Executive Director of the Wamego Chamber of Commerce/Mainstreet.
The 2012 Tulip Festival, designed to be a celebration of spring, family and community, goes from 9 AM to 6 PM Saturday, April 14th, 2012 and 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, April 15th, 2012.
"It is truly the pride in our community that shows forth in our beautiful park and it's for everyone, especially families, and we want to celebrate all that Wamego has to offer," Barnett added.
