Volunteer Fire Department Raising Money

CENTRALIA, Kansas - The Centralia Volunteer Fire Department is putting on a bike show fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010.

Community member Debra Boyce says the fire department recently lost the service of its local ambulance because there aren't enough staff. She said now the nearest ambulance is 13 miles from town. "We are trying to get money to help pay for the things they need since they are a volunteer," Boyce said.

The bike show is October 9th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Judging is at 3:00 p.m. Entry fee is $10.

There will be a pulled-pork dinner for $5 a plate, as well as different raffle items (including a Harley quilt), a beer garden and street dance.
