Nearly a 1,000 Fort Riley Soldiers are packed and ready to deploy to Iraq.
Soldiers from the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat team are deploying for a year in support of Operation New Dawn.
Family and friends gathered on Fort Riley Monday to see their loved ones off.
The unit will be advising and assisting iraqi security forces.
Their tour of duty in Iraq is scheduled for one year.
