A problem with the state's computers made it tougher for some kids to get back to school shots -- and some moms to get food for their families.

For the last 10 days the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has been experiencing quite a few computer problems which caused 85 percent of KDHE servers to go down... now they sat they're on the road to recovery.

The technical problems KDHE servers faced this last week were due to a failure of a central component the storage area network also known as SAN.

150 servers were affected..impacting various systems.....patients couldn't get immunization records updated, 4500 WIC clients were not served and numerous applications could not be processed for child care programs and health occupation credentialling. But most are back online.

With 150 servers and 25 terabytes of data its hard to say when the entire system will be back to normal.
