It seems many of us have a love/hate relationship with Halloween candy. Parents have a fun time dressing the kids in their costumes and escorting them around the neighborhood. They return home to sort through the haul. Then, the battles begin - with the kids and with ourselves!
How much candy do you let the kids eat? Do you give any of it away? Do you participate in the buy-back programs that some dentists sponsor? And how about your own willpower? What tricks do you use to avoid eating the whole stash yourself?
We had a coworker who used to give her kids three days or so to eat what they wanted from their trick or treat sacks, then she'd bring the rest to the scavangers in the newsroom (hey - we're easy to please!). Of course, then I'd have to figure out ways to stay strong!
