Tis the season when the social calendar starts to fill with all sorts of great events to help great organizations!
A fun one is this weekend. I'm hoping we won't need to celebrate "Evening as a Child" by huddling with a few hundred of our closest friends in the hallways at the Expocentre! This fun event where adults get to act like kids benefits Easter Seals Capper Foundation. Hubby and I got to spend time with a great little guy named Jaxon who's seeing his world open up thanks to the work of the Capper staff. The video will be shown at Saturday's event - but I'm sharing it with you here!
Next Saturday, April 21st, is Couture for Cancer, benefiting the American Cancer Society. I'm so excited that Dillards is going to loan me an outfit for the occasion - shopping without having to worry about how much it costs!! Of course, I'll likely be tempted to buy something anyway (don't tell Doug!). Tickets are still available - check out www.topekacoutureforcancer.org.
April 25th, I'll be downtown for Blue Cross Blue Shield's Walk at Lunch Day activities. Hopefully it's a nice, sunny day to enjoy a walk over the noon hour!
On the 28th, my cousin is assisting with the Hilltop Hustle 5k. It's a benefit for the Hilltop Child Development Center in Lawrence where she works. I imagine I'll run over to run - and maybe catch up with my favorite KU announcer, Nick! Entry info is at www.enter2run.com.
Hope you're not tired yet, because Friday, May 4th, I need you to mosey on over to the Topeka Zoo for the March of Dimes' March for Babies. It's a great family event!
And keep those walking shoes on because you'll need them Saturday, May 12th. That's the morning for the Arthritis Walk at Lake Shawnee. I REALLY need your help with this one because if I out-fundraise Chris Fisher from the morning show, he'll have to do a hula dance in a grass skirt and coconut bra! Head to this link to donate to my cause or join my team: http://AWTopeka.kintera.org/brunner
Also on the agenda is the June 2nd Bone Appetit for Helping Hands Humane Society. Find those event details at www.hhhstopeka.org.
Whew! So many great causes, so little time! I hope to see you at one, two or all of them!
