My fashion choices lately are all about supporting our Sunflower State schools, but not stepping on toes during rivalry matchups! Case in point - hubby and I decided to check out last weekend's South Central Regional semi-final between Washburn and Emporia State. He's a Washburn alum, so he donned his blue shirt with pride. Me? I chose an appropriately neutral mint green. Lest you think we newspeople like to take sides, I assure you, I was trying to avoid bias even in my clothing choice! I truly like both schools and will wildly support their efforts......except when they're playing each other - then, I just hope for a good game!
Of course, when the teams are on their own, we love to showcase our home-state pride. That's why today, I'm sporting a purple shirt for K-State's opening round game and, tomorrow, I plan to pull out some bright blue since it's the Jayhawks game day. If both advance and end up playing on the same day in the next round, I'll try again for a neutral wardrobe color - wanting both teams to do well but not wanting fans from one side to think I'm ignoring the other!
Above all, I hope all fans have fun with the tournament. Wear your colors proudly! But remember, it's a game and these are kids....there's always next year!
