From Ralph Hipp
You know, when I began at WIBW back in 1990, I had not yet become the father of babies. Now our babies are grown up and leaving the nest!
My wife and I are going through the first stages of separation anxiety.
Our son just graduated from high school Sunday evening, and next up is his college orientation in June. We'll help him move into his dorm room and away from his bedroom this August, when he celebrates his 19th birthday.
And just today, Mrs. Hipp took our daughter to the airport for one of those study abroad programs. Our young lady is a little nervous, and quite excited, to be studying in Spain for the next two months! So she'll return in late July, just as we get geared up for her senior year in college.. and getting her brother ready for his freshman year. The trip to Spain for our daughter, then off to college for both of them is making us realize those babies are grownups now. Or, almost!
Do you have any advice for me and my wife, going through this first time in our lives when our children are grown and leaving us for a while? They've never been away from home at the same time, ever! And Dad is about to use Skype and FaceTime for the first time to see how his little girl is doing.
Now who are the ones who are nervous and excited? We'd love to hear your thoughts on this!
