Frankly, I use to get so irritated in these National days of ‘something.’ From National Paint Your House Blue Day, to National Whistle with Crackers in your Mouth Day---you can see why I, along with many others, could be irritated with this every day having some silly little meaning.
Then, I stopped thinking about how pointless these days were, and started thinking about any kind of meaning in which they could have. After all, everything has some kind of meaning, right?
Yeah, some of the days are completely pointless…but others, like today’s “National Day of Friendship” are great reminders for people like me so wrapped up in work, life, etc.
Today I’ve been thinking about my friends and how they have covered for me, let my dog out when I wasn’t home, baked me cookies, or just done something thoughtful. It’s nice to know you have friends and I’ve enjoyed taking a moment of my day to sit back and reflect. You should try it.
I suggest you do the same. Friends are awesome, great, amazing, and really help you out in a pinch---you just cannot have too many. Send them a text, a message on Facebook, Tweet them or dare I say pick up the phone and talk to them….I bet they’ll appreciate it more than you think.
