From Ralph Hipp
The oddest thing happened on New Year's Morning.. and I hope it's not an omen of how this year will play out! At the stroke of midnight, my 13 News iPad provided to me by the station blacked out, shut down and has not come back on in the past 3 days as I'm writing this on January 3rd.
I had a pleasant night of tweeting a couple of news stories, checking a few news websites, playing six frustrating rounds of Angry Birds, and reading an eBook that my minister wrote recently and has available on Kindle. The screen was still on one of the pages of his book when it went blank.
Turning it on and off didn't help. Now, with the good news that our news crews will be receiving iPad2's for our news coverage this year.. I've left the iPad 1 shut down with our interactive media guru, Josh Mabry, now in charge of finding why my Pad went kaput in 2012, and whether to transfer my few apps to the new pad. That is, if Josh can even fire up the old one.
I thought the end of 2011 might have meant the end of a service agreement to keep the first iPad running, but my theory's not holding much water.
Do you know the answer to my iPad mystery? Should we try to start it again or just leave the home screen forever in darkness with its contents permanently sealed, and never to return again? RH
