Every day before I leave for work, I let Ricky, Lucy and Buddy out for a run through the woods, give Bam Bam a pat on the head and try to find Spidey, Baby and Mini to see if they're up for a cuddle, too!
Such is the life of a pet parent.
But it seems today, I should have asked for Bam Bam to get a seat at the desk next to me. It's National Take Your Dog to Work Day. For the 14th year, the group Pet Sitters International is setting aside the day to celebrate dogs as companions, and to encourage their adoption from animal shelters and rescue groups. (If cat lovers would like equal time, the group encourages offices to make this "Take Your Pet to Work" week!)
You might have notices we're an animal-loving group around WIBW-TV. I'm trying to imagine the scene if we ALL brought our dogs to work! Suzie's Winnie, Josh's Jackson and Jeremy's Angel would lead the pint-sized pooches in taking over the place! Bam Bam would lounge under my desk, while Ricky, Lucy and Buddy mixed it up with Jim's Nike and Misha. J.B.'s Pepper would entertain us with tricks. And Drew's Nado would stalk the geese in the field off the weather deck. Maybe we get them to join in a rousing chorus of a new 13 News theme?
Truth be told, we often have furry friends visit. Angel famously made a cameo appearance in the news one day. And Jim's dogs tried to get Suzie to laugh as they rushed her during a live newsroom report once, but she kept her cool! If you know us, we know we love our pets!
You can get info on the day at this web site: http://www.takeyourdog.com/index.php. There's even a photo gallery of dogs who headed to the office today!
Did any of you have a workplace that participated? I'd love to hear your stories - even better, share your photos on my facebook page, www.facebook.com/WIBWMelissaBrunner
Who wouldn't love that face?!
